Sherwood Golf Club, Mabelreign, in the capital, Harare, will be the place to be on April 30 when son to the late jazz legend, Bob “The Headmaster” Nyabinde, Agga, and the 2 Nice Band is set to launch his new album, Honai.

The event will be a celebration of the younger Nyabinde’s talents and his dedication to continuing with his father’s work.

As a legend of Zimbabwean Afro Jazz, Nyabinde left behind a rich musical legacy, and Agga is poised to continue that tradition in his own unique style.

In an interview with Zim Now, Agga’s elder brother, Albert Nyabinde, said the nine-track album is titled Honai and the title song highlights the good deeds that people do to others with love and is an appreciation of what the Headmaster taught them as they grew up.

“This song highlights the good deeds that always follow people who are loving, selfless and caring. That person who has been showered with love will not hesitate to speak well and show everyone that you are truly a great person. Hence, Honai.

“On the same note, Bob Nyabinde taught us well, so we are saying, Honai (See).”

“Another track is the surprise track number 1. I will not tell you the title of the song. This song is dear to our hearts because the legendary Headmaster would always sing this every time and still requested us to play that song whenever we gathered.”

Albert said Afro Jazz is regaining its momentum again in the country.

“Afro Jazz in Zimbabwe will preserve authentic Zimbabwean music, so a lot of young people and bands are now identifying themselves with the local sound. So, I can safely say we are on the right track.

“The album have nine tracks with brand new collaborations, social commentary and dance tunes.

“We made sure that we played to the best of our ability. All this was not easy as we are still heavily feeling the blow of the loss of The Guru, Maestro, and Legend Bob, The Headmaster Nyabinde, who always made sure that we give the best,” said Albert.

To push the album, the Nyabindes are visiting new places and engaging social media platforms, they are also selling tickets on most of their shows. T-shirts for the launch are also available.

The album launch is going to be graced by guest artistes who include Mbeu, Victor Kunonga and Tariro Ne Gitare.
