A dazzling performance by 20-year-old wonder-kid, Young Bunjira, propelled CAPS United to a resounding win over Green Fuel at Rufaro Stadium yesterday.

Bunjira, son of CAPS United legend, Alois, entered the fray at halftime and instantly transformed the game. His electrifying pace and trickery on the right wing bewildered Green Fuel defenders, while his pinpoint crosses wreaked havoc in their box.

The youngster emerged as the undisputed hero, conjuring up two exquisite assists.  His first found Wayne Makuva in the 52nd minute, who gleefully headed home. Just 16 minutes later, Bunjira orchestrated another masterpiece, this time setting up Rodwell Chinyengetere for the decisive goal.

The Green Machine weren’t done yet. William Manondo capped off a magical afternoon with a solo wonder goal in the 77th minute. He mesmerised two defenders with his dazzling footwork before unleashing a shot that left the Green Fuel goalkeeper speechless.

Green Fuel, however, weren’t entirely without teeth. They carved out decent opportunities, particularly in the opening half. However, a disallowed goal for offside when the score was 1-0 proved to be a pivotal moment, draining their momentum and resolve.

The boisterous CAPS United faithful erupted in a standing ovation for Bunjira at the final whistle, showering him with well-deserved praise and even some celebratory cash.

This emphatic victory was a much-needed tonic for CAPS United after their weekend defeat to Manica Diamonds. The win propels them back into the title race, closing the gap on league leaders Highlanders to just five points. More importantly, it injects a surge of confidence into the squad ahead of their highly-anticipated clash against Bosso at Barbourfields on Sunday.

For Green Fuel, the loss extends their winless run to three matches. Coach Rodwell Dhlakama expressed concern about his team’s propensity for dropping points. He acknowledged their decent first-half performance but lamented their second-half collapse, particularly after the disallowed goal. Dhlakama vowed to use this setback as a learning experience and expressed his determination to turn things around.
