Dancehall musician, Winky D has rocked up controversy following his freestyle lyrics on stage at the Queens Sports club in. Bulawayo, where he mentioned controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo, in what many view as an endorsement trend of the popular “mbinga”.

Winky was part of many artistes such as South African Hip Hop singer Kwesta, Enzo Ishall, Saint Floew, Bazooker, Killer T and Jah Master, who performed at the closing show of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.

Winky D seemed to endorse Chivayo through a freestyle of his old song Rokesheni part of the freestyle lines read “Usamboda kuvabvisa pachigaro vanokupa mabhutsu hobho fanike Chivayo…”

He is well-known in the music scene as a critic of government and standing up for the have-nots in Zimbabwe, with his latest album, featuring the track Ibotso, contradicting his freestyle lines.

Chivayo has been dishing out cars and cash to celebrities and artistes he deems to have been supportive of President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Zanu PF, with some observers even suggesting that Winky D has come out to praise Chivayo to get his own, “Go See Victor” gift.
