83 Warren Hills Cemetry graves vandalised

A Harare man, who vandalised 83 graves at Warren Hills Cemetery, has been nabbed.

Gilbert Mukandatsamba, 34, of Warren Hills Cemetery, Warren Park D, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts accused of violating graves.

He was remanded in custody.

The complainant in this matter is City of Harare, represented by Mataukwa Taengwa, 50.

The State alleges that on April 15, Mataukwa was doing patrol duties and on the 16th, he observed 83 graves having been destroyed by Mukandatsamba.

The court heard that after that, Mukandaysamba went into hiding.

It is alleged that on May 2, at around 1000 hours, Mukandatsamba was caught intending to destroy Mavis Mukandara’s grave.

The value that was destroyed was $45 000.
