Mutero High School learners cheat death in kombi accident

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed a road traffic accident involving a Toyota Quantum kombi which occurred at the 106km peg along the Harare-Masvingo Road near Chivhu.

The Toyota Quantum was carrying schoolchildren from Mutero High School in Gutu - who were returning to school for the second term - the driver and a parent.

In a statement, the police confirmed that the accident occurred at around 1000 hours this morning.

“The kombi was on its way to Masvingo when the driver lost control and the kombi overturned three times near Munyati Bridge and landed on its wheels,” police said.

All the vehicle occupants are currently being treated at Chivhu General Hospital.

Video footage and pictures of the accident have been circulating on social media for the greater part of the afternoon.
