Last King Holdings Private Limited has been arraigned to court for defrauding Energy Park Private Limited of US$170 000.

Last King Holdings Private Limited represented by Shingai Muringi, 32, of Mabelreign, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with fraud and money laundering.

Muringi was remanded in custody.

The complainant in this matter is Energy Park Private Limited, represented by its operations manager, Ismail Mahomed Kassim. The company is into the business of petroleum.

The State alleges that on April 20,Muringi misrepresented to Energy Park that he wanted to buy 120 000 litres of bulk fuel for US$125 000 and promised to make payment upon delivery.

Energy Park then delivered the 120 000 litres of fuel to Last King Holdings.

The State alleges that after receiving the fuel, Muringi failed to pay the money but instead, he sold the fuel and bought a Toyota Fortuner.

The State was informed that on April 27, the accused then sent two fake proof of payments of US$125 000, claiming that he transferred US$70 200 from an NMB account number to Energy Park’s account and US$54 800 from the same NMB account to Energy Park’s Stanbic account.

The court heard that Energy Park later checked the authenticity of the proof of payments and found that they were fake.

Due to accused’s misrepresentation, it is alleged, Energy Park Private Limited lost US$170 000 and nothing was recovered
