Zimbabwe’s handball teams continued with their impressive performance at the International Handball Federation tournament, overpowering their opponents in both the Under 18 and Under 20 categories.

The Under 18s crushed South Africa 41-13, while the Under 20s fought their way past a strong Mozambique squad 26-22, highlighting Zimbabwe’s growing dominance in the sport and their determination to emerge victorious.

In an interview with Zim Now, Zimbabwe Under 20 captain, Felix Munashe Manyani expressed his joy and excitement after defeating Mozambique.

“I am feeling great with this win. This was the great opportunity that I have to captain the country’s strongest team. I thank God for this opportunity.”

In a series of crushing defeats, Lesotho’s Under 20 and Under 18 teams were outclassed by their Zambian and Malawian counterparts. Zambia’s Under 20s delivered a resounding 61-10 victory, showcasing their offensive firepower and unrelenting defence, while Lesotho was unable to find an answer to the superior speed and teamwork of the Malawian Under 18s.

Despite their valiant effort, the Lesotho teams faced an uphill battle against the might of their regional rivals.

Tomorrow, Zimbabwe’s Under 18s will face Malawi at 12:00 at Sunrise Sports Club while their Under 20 counterparts face Malawi at 16:00hrs at Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex.

Meanwhile, Zambia and Swaziland Under 18 will clash in a highly-anticipated rematch, with Swaziland seeking redemption after their previous defeat.
