A woman who extorted money from her lover by pretending to be a police officer, has been arraigned before the courts.
Shantel Chikwana, 24, of Glen View 7, appeared at the Harare Magistrates' Courts facing extortion charges.
She will appear in court on June 11.
The complainant in this matter is Ranganai Dondo, 40.
The State alleges that Dondo was in a relationship with Chikwana and she asked for money from him but Dondo failed to give her the money.
The court heard that on February 20, Chikwana called Dondo pretending to be a police officer, claiming to have received a report of rape.
It is alleged that Chikwana took advantage of that and she exerted illegitimate pressure on Dondo, demanding various amounts of money and on different dates she received the money totalling US$4 700 from him.
She allegedly threatened that she would report a case of rape against him if the money was not paid.
