Three men have been arrested for allegedly digging up a ZESA cable in Kambuzuma, Harare, after they were spotted by a passer-by in the early hours of October 25, 2026.

Bothwell Phiri, 42, Farai Mwandora, 44, and Kudakwashe Chisvo, 24, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court facing charges of possession of articles for criminal use.

The State alleges that at around 1am, the complainant was passing Mutede Tyres in Kambuzuma 6 on his way home when he saw the three men digging up a ZESA cable.

He alerted a security team, which rushed to the scene. The men allegedly attempted to flee, but Phiri was arrested.
