A commuter omnibus driver and his conductor, who allegedly threw a ZRP officer, have been taken court facing attempted murder.
Jeremiah Gore, 30, of Budiriro 5B and Tonderai Matsokotere, 29, of Old Canaan, Highfield, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts facing attempted murder and contravening the Road Traffic Act.
Gore is the driver of the commuter omnibus where Matsokotere is conductor.
They will appear in court June, 26.
The State alleges that on May 24, at corner Robert Mugabe and Chinhoyi Street in Harare, Constable Kudakwashe Meki was on patrol duty wearing his uniform and was together with Constables Bandera Kudyamuranda and Chandigere when they arrested the accused persons who were dropping people at undesignated zone.
The complainant got into Gore’s car and told him that he was under arrested for that.
They told the accused to drive to Harare Central Police Station.
It is alleged that the accused decided to disobey the instruction and drove away at high speed with the complainant on board and Gore drove against the direction of flow of traffic fleeing the complainant.
At a certain point along Chinhoyi Street, against one way, the accused opened the door and threw the complainant out of the car.
As a result, the complainant suffered a double fracture on the upper limp and was admitted at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
