A local company, Creovile Investments, has been arraigned before the courts accused of defrauding US$6 050.

Creovile Investments represented by Agushito Simbarashe, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with fraud.

It will appear in court again on June 27.

The State alleges that on September 4, 2023, at Joina City, Corner Innez Terez and Jason Moyo, the complainant in this matter, Chiwaridzo Enipher, was seeking for someone who could assist her to get a certificate of sponsorship for employment in the United Kingdom.

Chiwaridzo was then referred to Banda Kudakwashe, who was employed by Creovile.

Chiwaridzo then visited Creovile Investments office and when he arrived, he met Banda in the office and he introduced himself as the agent who assists job seekers to work in United Kingdom.

It is alleged that Banda further told Chiwaridzo that he needed US$6 050, for the whole process to issue the certificate of sponsorship, including accommodation and food for two months.

Chiwaridzo made the payment on September 4, 2023, in Creovile Investments offices at Joina City and the money was received by Banda on behalf of Creovile Investments and it was receipted in Creovile Investments’ name.

Banda assured Chiwaridzo that she would get her certificate of sponsorship not later than 14 days.

After the lapse of the 14 days, Chiwaridzo visited the company intending to get her papers but Banda started to change statements.

It is alleged that Chiwaridzo made several efforts to get her certificate of sponsorship but Creovile was not available and became evasive.

Chiwaridzo allegedly reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of Banda and was brought to court.

More investigations led to the arrest of the director of Creovile Investments represented by Agushito Simbarashe.

As a result, Chiwaridzo lost US$6 050.
