A man who allegedly defrauded InnBucks MicroBank Limited US$13 700 has been taken to court.
Bright Madake, 28, Zengeza 1, in Chitungwiza, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with fraud.
He was granted US$100 bail and will appear in court on June 21.
The complainant in this matter InnBucks MicroBank Limited represented Cleopas Mupingo.
The State alleges that InnBucks opened a loan facility exclusive to civil servants and repayment through monthly deductions via the Salary Service Bureau.
The loan facility required that the applicant apply and physically submit relevant documentation to the satisfaction of the loan facilitator.
Some of the documents required a current payslip, proof of employment and identification documents.
Madake, together with Alexio Masasa and Melody Chirodzero, who are already on remand for the same case, obtained documents belonging to various civil servants and applied for loans against their details.
They allegedly put their account numbers as the beneficiary account.
It is alleged that InnBucks processed the loans and disbursed them accordingly, to the fraudulent accounts given by Madake.
The offence was unearthed after various civil servants realised deductions on their pay and approached InnBucks for recourse.
InnBucks revisited the applications and saw that the beneficiary accounts that were supplied for the loans belonged to the accused and filed a police report.
As a result, InnBucks lost US$13 700.
