Dynamos FC are facing a striker crisis.
The team's struggles to find the back of the net have resulted in a string of draws and a disappointing position on the league table.
With only 13 goals in 16 games, Dynamos are among the league's lowest scorers. Their struggles are reflected in their lowly ninth-place position, precariously close to the relegation zone.
Coach Genesis Mangombe, under pressure due to the poor results, has vowed to address the issue during the upcoming transfer window.
Sunday's goalless draw against Manica Diamonds marked Dynamos' ninth draw in 16 league games.
Despite creating scoring opportunities, the team's lack of a gunman has left them wanting.
Namibian signing Sadney Urikhob, brought in at the start of the season to bolster the attack, has been a major let down, managing only one goal so far in the season.
Youngster Alexander Mandinyenya is yet to find his footing, and the previous season's Rookie of the Year, Elton Chikona, has failed to replicate his early success.
With the team's scoring woes directly impacting their performance, Mangombe has acknowledged the shortcomings of his striking department.
Reports suggest the Manica Diamond match could be his last, with Dynamos management contemplating a change.
Seemingly unaware of the speculation, Mangombe is determined to find a solution.
"We need to be composed in front of goal, and that means finding a good finisher," he said after the Sunday match.
"We are creating chances, but we aren't scoring. We'll look for a striker when the transfer window opens."
The search for a new striker will see Dynamos explore both local and international options.
Mangombe says has already identified potential targets and is working on convincing them to join the club.
While acknowledging some positives in the team's defense, Mangombe stressed the need for goal-oriented players.
"We need players with character, who can put the ball in the net," he emphasized.
The coach is mum on the surprising exclusion of proven goal scorer Eli Ilunga.
Ilunga, who netted nearly a dozen goals before joining Dynamos, has been frozen out of the squad.
With FC Platinum leading the race by 13 points, Dynamos' hopes of challenging for the championship title are rapidly fading.
The upcoming transfer window presents a crucial opportunity to rectify their attacking woes and propel them up the table.
