John Cena, a titan of professional wrestling and a household name across the globe, has stepped into the ring for his final act. During the recent "Money in the Bank" event, Cena announced his retirement from World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) competition, effective after 2025.

The 47-year-old wrestling icon, a 16-time WWE world champion, received a mixed reaction from the crowd, with cheers battling boos. Cena, ever the showman, acknowledged the fans with gratitude. "Thank you for letting me play in the house that you built for so many years," he boomed.

While Cena's retirement may sting for some fans, he offered a glimpse into his decision-making process. "WWE is filled with stories," Cena shared at a post-event press conference. "It's constantly a program of stories ending and new stories beginning." He emphasized that while he prioritizes his in-ring performance and doesn't dwell on legacy, he feels a responsibility to the fans who have supported him.

To ensure a grand send-off, Cena plans a farewell tour with 30-40 appearances scheduled throughout 2025. This isn't Cena's first brush with retirement; he's considered it before. However, he feels the timing is perfect now.  "The business is at incredible heights of popularity and awareness," he explained. He also mentioned an upcoming Netflix debut in January 2025, hinting at potential collaborations with WWE.

Cena's 16 world championships tie him with wrestling legend Ric Flair for the record. While wrestler retirements can sometimes be temporary, Cena assures fans this is his final curtain call. "People say they're walking away, and two years later they come back," he acknowledged. "I want to set the record straight right now: I'm done. This is it."

Cena's career extends beyond the wrestling ring. He has carved a successful path in Hollywood, starring in films like "Barbie," "The Suicide Squad," and the "Fast & Furious" franchise.

Though his wrestling days are numbered, John Cena's legacy as a WWE champion and a global entertainer remains secure. His farewell tour promises a year of nostalgic throwbacks and emotional goodbyes, ensuring a fitting conclusion to a remarkable career.
