The Zimbabwe national rugby team, the Sables set off for Uganda on Thursday, ready to battle for glory in the Rugby Africa Cup. This year's tournament holds immense significance, as qualification for the 2027 Rugby World Cup hangs in the balance.

Facing a tough group that includes Namibia, Kenya, and host Uganda, the Sables open their campaign with a crucial match against Uganda this Saturday. Victory is essential for Zimbabwe to progress to the semi-finals and keep their World Cup dream alive. Only the winner of the Rugby Africa Cup will automatically qualify for the World Cup, while the runner-up faces an additional qualifying tournament.

Sables coach, Pieter Benade, expressed unwavering confidence in his team, commending their dedication and praising the "unsung heroes" who funded their journey. With a strong squad featuring experienced veterans like Aiden Burnett (VC) and exciting youngsters like Tapiwa Mafura, the Sables are poised to make a serious challenge.
