United Kingdom-based, Vee Kativhu has attained a doctoral degree from Bradford University, establishing a milestone as the institution's youngest recipient of an honorary doctorate.
Kativhu has been bestowed with an Honorary Doctorate in acknowledgment of her commitment to educational activism and empowerment endeavors.
Kativhu commemorated this achievement highlighting her exceptional feat as the youngest individual to receive an honorary doctorate from the university.
Reflecting on her journey, Kativhu expressed that her younger self would have been astounded by her current accomplishments, considering the myriad challenges she has overcome.
She described her progression from Zimbabwe to achieving an honorary doctorate in the United Kingdom as a profound honor.
”ITS OFFICIAL, I AM A DOCTORRRR!!!! yesterday I made history and became the youngest person to ever receive an honorary degree from the University of Bradford.
"I feel over the moon to receive such a prestigious award and to be the youngest honorary degree recipient in the university. I cannot wait to continue on with my work and show the world the power of education and letting girls learn," she said.
Dedicating her Honorary Doctorate to her mother, Loveness, Vee cited the support of her family as a crucial element in her success to date.
She started by working at McDonald’s during her A-levels and studying during breaks to graduate from Oxford University.
Vee holds two degrees, a bachelor's degree from Oxford University in Classical Archaeology and Ancient History and a masters’ degree from Harvard University in International Education Policy.
As recognition for her efforts to bridge the gap of inequality in education, Vee has been named a Diana Award Legacy Award Recipient by Prince Harry and Prince William, a United Kingdom Rare Rising Star by executive members of British parliament, and A Diversity Champion by the Vice Chancellor of Oxford University.
She is also a Young Leader for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
