In a major boost for Zimbabwean football, the Zimbabwe Football Association has unveiled German tactician Michael Nees as the new head coach of the Warriors. The 57-year-old brings a wealth of international experience to the role, having coached national teams across Africa, Europe, and Asia.

Nees, who boasts a UEFA Pro License and an M.A. in Sports Science, is renowned for his innovative coaching methods. His expertise in "Life Kinetik", a unique training approach popularized by former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the Warriors' training regimen.

The German coach has an impressive track record, having guided various national teams in over 200 international matches. His stint as part of the England National Team's support staff during the 2006 FIFA World Cup, as well as his roles as head coach of the Rwanda national team and Director of Coaching at the South African Football Association, highlight his deep understanding of African football.

Nees is eager to take on the challenge of leading the Warriors to success in the upcoming AFCON 2025 and FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers. "Zimbabwe has great potential, and I believe with the right approach, we can achieve remarkable results," he said. "My focus will be on developing the team's strengths, while addressing areas that need improvement."

ZIFA Chairman Lincoln Mutasa expressed confidence in Nees' ability to steer the Warriors to new heights. "We believe Michael Nees is the right man to lead our national team. His experience, coupled with his innovative coaching philosophy, makes him an ideal fit for the role," Mutasa stated.
