The Zimbabwe Football Association is expressing high hopes for the tenure of newly appointed national team coach, Darlington Nees, citing his positive impact on the team's performance.
Lincoln Mutasa, Chairman of the ZIFA Normalization Committee, praised Nees' leadership in the match day program ahead of the Warriors' clash against Namibia yesterday. "We have high hopes for his tenure, and we're already seeing his impact," Mutasa said. "He has even managed to convince some former national team players to return from retirement."
Since his appointment in late August, Nees has overseen four Warriors games, including draws against Kenya and Cameroon, and back-to-back victories over Namibia. With these results, Zimbabwe is now on the brink of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON finals, needing only one point from their remaining two matches against Kenya and Cameroon.
