Two men have been charged with murder for assaulting a man whom they accused of being a thief.

Leonard Mutesva, 26, of Bluffhill and Shadreck Mupfupi, 37, all of Bluffhill were remanded in custody.

The State alleges that on June 25, 2024, the two accused together with one Clifton Tivafukidze who is still at large confronted the now deceased who had intruded in Mutesva's premises.

They found him in a parked car and accused him of being a thief.

They allegedly started assaulting him with open hands and a baton stick which they had borrowed from a Trust Me Security guard who was guarding at number 452 Lavernham, Bluffhill.

The accused continued assaulting him until he became unconscious, and they later dragged him out of their premises and dumped him about 30 metres.

The following morning, the deceased's body was discovered by one Dumisani Charity and a report was made at ZRP Mabelreign.

On July 5, 2024, a post mortem was conducted on the remains of the deceased at Parirenyatwa Hospital and it was concluded that the cause of death was due to cerebral edema, brain contusion and head trauma.

Investigations the led to the arrest of the accused and the subsequent recovery of the murder weapon, a broken baton stick.
