Underrate Hunters at Your Own Risk, Warns Saruchera

FC Hunters coach Nesbert Yabo Saruchera has warned Caps United that underestimating his youthful side could prove costly when the two teams clash in the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup quarter-finals at Rufaro Stadium on Saturday.

“If you underrate us, it will be your own problem,” he warned.

Saruchera's charges have collected four points from their two league meetings with Caps United this season and also eliminated Chibuku Super Cup holders Dynamos from this year's Munhumutapa Challenge Cup.

For the Hunters coach, however, those results will count for little when the two teams meet in a completely different competition.

“it's a different ball game altogether. It's the cup game. We can't do much on those two league games. It's not the game of the past, it's a new game,” Saruchera said.

The former league encounters may provide confidence, but Saruchera knows a cup match presents a fresh challenge, with one poor performance potentially ending either team's campaign.

“It’s not going to be easy for both teams, but we are going to make sure we fight all the way up to the end,” he said.

And while Caps United enter the contest with the pressure and expectations that come with being one of the country's established clubs,  However,  Saruchera is particularly confident in the young squad that has carried Hunters through  the season.

“ I have a very good squad. I'm very proud of those young boys. We are doing well, so we are pushing,” he said.

Hunters have earned a reputation for being difficult to break down, often relying on discipline, organisation and narrow victories rather than spectacular scorelines. Their ability to stay in games and punish opponents has already been demonstrated in their cup victory over Dynamos.

Caps United chief executive officer Morton Dodzo has also acknowledged the threat posed by the youthful side.

“People judge Hunters because they are new and have little history, but that team is very hard-boiled, very rude. If you fail to manage to score in time, then expect to be knocked out,” Dodzo told Zim Now Sports.

The warning has also been echoed by football supporters, with Caps United fans urging their team to approach Saturday's match with caution.
