Man Arrested For Selling Borrowed Car

A-24-year-old man, Lovemore Chisango has been remanded in custody after he sold his friend’s BMW F30 320d vehicle which he had borrowed.

Chisango appeared at the Harare Magistrate's Courts charged with theft of trust property.

On January 10, 2024, Chisango approached the complainant who was at Steers Masasa, Harare, and asked to borrow him a white BMW F30 320d.

Chisango told the complainant that he wanted to use the car for his domestic errands and was to return it after two weeks.

They agreed and Chisango was given the car keys. Chisango did not return the car to the complainant as per their agreement but instead he sold the car.

The complainant made follow-ups but Chisango was giving excuses.

The court heard that on July 19, 2024, the complainant realised that Chisango had sold his car prompting him to report at ZRP Rhodesville. Chisango was then arrest following investigations.

The car had been sold to Ndovu Nhlania of number 9 Euphorbia Newton West, Bulawayo.

The car is yet to be recovered. As a result, the total value that was stolen was US$14 800 and nothing has been recovered.
