The British government is battling to quell violent protests across UK and Northern Ireland towns and cities, which began at the weekend.

Described as the United Kingdom’s worst riots in 13 years, the protests came after the fatal stabbing of three girls in Southport last week.

Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer has since called for another emergency Cobra meeting this evening as police prepare for more far-right riots on Wednesday.

According to police sources, around 30 gatherings are planned for Wednesday, with the government expected to deploy around 6 000 specialist police officers.

The violence in the UK comes on the back of an assassination attempt last month on former US President, Donald Trump, who had a bullet piercing the upper part of his right ear as he stood on a stage addressing supporters during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The incidents in the UK and USA have since attracted widespread condemnation, with some quarters describing them as slaps in the face of nations that are fond of lecturing the world on democracy.
