4-H Zimbabwe recently participated at the World Justice Project Convening on Democracy and the Rule of Law in Chicago, United States of America.
The WJP hosted the “Meeting the Challenge,” an event to support collective problem-solving, learning, and exchange of best practices on rule of law and democracy challenges.
30 finalists from across the world were present to exhibit the work that they are doing. The four categories that were there included, Media and information, Electoral processes, Justice institutions and Youth engagement.
4-H Zimbabwe was selected under the youth engagement category. Representatives from selected organisations that focus particularly on youth engagement around the globe showcased their work.
Presenting on the work done by 4-H Zimbabwe Foundation executive director, John Muchenje highlighted problems that 4-H Zimbabwe seeks to address youth exclusion in national development and peace building processes and how the organisation has been solving these problems through youth peace trainings.
Muchenje highlighted that the organisation has been including People with Disabilities in their programming.
He went on to highlight how working with music artists from the different political parties contributed to a wide reach of more than 5 million people within Zimbabwe.
4-H Zimbabwe was selected as one the 30 finalists globally through its work on enhancing meaningful youth participation in national development, peace building and political processes program in Zimbabwe.
The organisation was selected from a pool of 424 submissions from 109 countries, these exemplary projects were chosen for their potential for replication and their demonstrated impact in advancing the rule of law by World Just Project through its World Justice Challenge.
The challenge compiles an evidence base for successful rule of law approaches, raises their strategic visibility and strengthens an emerging network of rule of law champions.
It invites submissions for initiatives that address critical rule of law challenges around the world in particular thematic categories.
Through dialogue and joint activities such as sport4peace tournaments, 4-H Zimbabwe Foundation project facilitated unprecedented cooperation among 11 political parties.
In 2022, the foundation was awarded the NGO of the year award for its outstanding contribution to social transformation and its continuous efforts to produce a positive change in the world through sport by Peace and Sport.
