ZESCO United head coach, George Lwandamina, has expressed unwavering confidence in his team's ability to overturn their first-leg defeat against Zimbabwe's Dynamos and secure a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup group stages.
The Zambian giants suffered a 1-0 loss in Gaborone last weekend, courtesy of Tanaka Shandirwa's goal. However, Lwandamina believes his players have the quality and determination to turn the tide in this afternoon return leg at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
"This is a do-or-die match for us," Lwandamina emphasized at a pre-match press conference. "We have to raise the bar for Zambian football, not just ZESCO. We are the servants of the game, and that's why I returned to the club."
The experienced coach acknowledged Dynamos' tactical prowess but insisted that his team must improve on their performance in Gaborone. "They are a tactically sound team, but we need to do more if we want to progress. I'm confident that our players are ready for the challenge," he added.
Tickets for the crucial encounter, scheduled for 15:00 this afternoon, are available from 39cents at all Shoprite stores in Zanbia through CompuTicket.
Defender Benedict Chepeshi echoed his coach's optimism, highlighting the positive atmosphere within the ZESCO United camp. "We need to play as a team, create more chances than we did in the first leg, and give our best on Saturday," Chepeshi said. "The mood is excellent in the camp, and we've had a full week to prepare for the game."
