A 40-year-old man, Tawanda Bondamakara from Seke, Chitungwiza has been charged with theft of trust property after he stole his mother in-law’s car.
Bondamakara was given the car, a Volvo XC60 by his mother in-law, Rebebcca Kashaya, 46, to look for a buyer.
The court heard that Bondamakara took the car from the complainant after he had suggested to move around with the car looking for its fair value.
Kashaya did not, however, give the accused any documentation for the vehicle.
It is alleged that after two weeks, Bondamakara confirmed that he had found a buyer who was offering US$10 000. Kashaya asked Bondamakara to bring back the car as well as the buyer but he never showed up.
The court was informed that he did not bring the car back or the buyer. He allegedly became evasive prompting Kashaya to file a report at ZRP Borrowdale.
On August 21,2024, Bondamakara was arrested.
The value of the car was US$10 000 and was not recovered.
