Nakamba out of Zimbabwe's AFCON qualifiers

Zimbabwe national football team captain Marvelous Nakamba will miss the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Cameroon and Kenya.

The midfielder, who recently returned to action for his English Championship side Luton Town, was unable to make the Zimbabwe squad due to the timing of his recovery.

Despite his availability for Luton's Carabao Cup match against Queens Park Rangers, Nakamba's return has come too late for the Warriors' crucial qualifiers.

The Warriors' campaign will kick off in Kampala, Uganda, where they will face Kenya's Harambee Stars on September 9. They will then take on Cameroon on September 10 before concluding their group stage matches against Namibia in October.

Nakamba's absence will be a significant loss for the Warriors, who will be aiming to secure their place in the 2025 AFCON tournament.
