Warriors captain Marvelous Nakamba is back in action! After a long battle with a knee injury that sidelined him for most of last season, Nakamba has rejoined Luton Town for pre-season training.
This return to full fitness brings not only hope for Luton's Championship campaign but also a potential boost for the Zimbabwean national team heading into the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Nakamba's absence was a major blow for Luton Town last season. The club, which unfortunately suffered relegation from the Premier League, missed his presence in the midfield.
The injury also cut short Nakamba's involvement with the Warriors during the World Cup qualifiers. He was part of the squad that drew with Rwanda and Nigeria in November but was forced to undergo surgery in December.
Now, with Nakamba training alongside his Luton teammates in Slovenia, there's a collective sigh of relief. The upcoming friendly matches against FC Rukh Vynnyky and Goztepe will be a good test of his recovery and a chance to showcase his skills once again.
This is fantastic news for the incoming Warriors coach as well. Nakamba's return to form provides a much-needed leader and experienced player for the national team's upcoming clash with Kenya in September's Afcon qualifiers. It's a role Nakamba couldn't fulfill during the qualifiers' second phase where the Warriors fell to Lesotho and South Africa.
Luton Town will undoubtedly be looking to Nakamba to play a key role in their Championship campaign as they aim for a swift return to the Premier League. While the club hasn't officially confirmed his full recovery, Nakamba's presence in pre-season training suggests he's back to his best. Although he wasn't included in the squad for Luton's second friendly, fans can expect to see him back in action soon.
