Kurai Makore, a promising Chimurenga musician, hails from Highfields, a vibrant suburb in Harare. His journey began at David Livingston Primary School, where he laid the foundation for his education. After completing his primary education, Kurai ventured to Guruve, a rural district in Zimbabwe, to pursue his high school studies at St Phillips Magwenya. During this time, his passion for music began to ignite, even amidst his youthful pursuits of football and hustling in Mbare.

Kurai's musical journey took an unexpected turn at an album launch for Zee Guveya, Thomas Mapfumo's guitarist, in 2018. Impressed by his talent, he was asked to perform a song, which marked the beginning of his professional music career. Since then, Kurai has released two albums, "Garaunzwe" in 2020 and "Ngoma Kurira" in 2022, as well as several singles, including the recent "Tombi" in 2024.

Kurai attributes his success to his humility and willingness to learn from others. He believes that by treating everyone with respect and importance, he has gained the support and encouragement necessary to pursue his dreams. The endorsement from Thomas Mapfumo, a legendary figure in Chimurenga music, has undoubtedly played a significant role in Kurai's career. However, he is quick to emphasize that while Mapfumo is a mentor and inspiration, he does not seek to be compared to him. Instead, Kurai aims to learn from Mapfumo's legacy and contribute to the ongoing development of Chimurenga music.

In addition to his musical pursuits, Kurai has a deep-rooted love for farming. He frequently returns to his rural home in Guruve to engage in agricultural activities. Kurai's passion for farming not only provides him with a sense of grounding but also contributes to his overall well-being.
