Meet Tatenda Marshall Musekiwa, known as "Coach Marshall," and his wife, Bridget Chandamale Musekiwa—a Zimbabwean sports power couple making a remarkable impact both on and off the field.
This dynamic duo has dedicated their lives to sports, excelling as athletes and coaches, and now mentoring future generations.
Marshall's passion for sports was ignited as a child when he witnessed cricket legend Dave Houghton in action. “Seeing Houghton bat at Harare Sports Club set a fire in me,” he recalls.
Since then, Marshall has become a respected multi-sport coach, specialising in tennis, cricket, swimming, and hockey.
Similarly, Bridget's love for sports began at just nine years old, growing up in Mbare. “Watching others play football at a local field drew me in,” she says. “I joined in, and it quickly became my passion.”
Bridget’s talent took her to the national stage, where she played for Zimbabwe's Mighty Warriors before a professional stint in Norway. She has since transitioned into coaching, empowering young female footballers.
Having retired from their respective professional careers, Marshall and Bridget now focus on nurturing young talent. Their advice for aspiring athletes is simple yet profound: "Stay focused, be disciplined, work hard, and remember that success doesn’t come overnight."
The couple co-runs the 3Jays Sport Multi-Sports Academy, a platform where they share their expertise and help youth across various disciplines. “We share many interests, which allows us to complement each other both at work and at home,” they explain.
Beyond their coaching roles, the Musekiwas are deeply committed to giving back. They run Far and Wide Cricket, a charity aimed at promoting cricket in Zimbabwe’s rural and underprivileged communities. Bridget expresses their shared mission: “We’re passionate about making sports accessible to everyone, regardless of background.”
Their community outreach doesn’t stop there. The couple is also actively involved in educational campaigns on issues such as drug abuse, early marriages, and mental health. “We believe in using our platform to create positive change,” Bridget emphasises.
