ICZ Finance Manager Charged with Embezzling Over US$300k

Finance manager at the Insurance Council of Zimbabwe, has been hauled before the Harare Magistrates' Courts on allegations of stealing over US$300,000 from the organisation. 

Osward Tutai, 34, of Bloomingdale, faces charges of theft and appeared before Magistrate Fadzai Mtombeni.

Prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti presented that Tutai, who had been employed by ICZ since March 1, 2012, is accused of misappropriating US$371,610 between January 1, 2022, and May 31, 2024. 

During this period, he allegedly withdrew funds from the company's Stanbic Bank account for his own benefit.

To cover up the offense, Tutai is said to have created fake vouchers, falsely claiming to have paid various individuals and companies for products and services that were never delivered to ICZ. 

Tutai has been remanded in custody pending further legal proceedings.
