Zimdancehall musician Carrington Simbarashe Chiwadzwa known as Nutty ‘O’ says he has no idea why he was not given the opportunity to perform at Rick Ross show last night.

“As you know, we were much excited about yet another link up and witnessing the Mustard Seed in effect, but due to circumstances beyond our control as Team ABX, despite arriving at the HICC at 9pm in good time for the program stated performance time of 22.15pm we were not granted access to the stage area and event by the promoter,” said Nutty O’s management in a statement published on social media.

The statement implied that the cold shoulder had started earlier but the organisers did not cancel the engagement.

“Efforts for the Artist, Band and Team to get access tags had failed since morning of the show day, 18 Nov,” reads the statement.

Nutty O was one of locals slated to be curtain raisers for the American star. He was the first Zimbabwean artist to be featured on Dj. Edu’s Afrodancehall show on BBC 1xtra with his track “Kwandabva Kure”.

Nutty O has performed alongside Jamaican dancehall sensation, Charly Black and shared the stage with Mafikizolo. In 2016 he was nominated as the most promising Zimdancehall artist.

The management said they were in constant communication with the organizing team, Roar Entertainment, and remained determined to meet their part of the agreement in spite of the treatment.

They said by the time the band managed to access the venue, the visiting artist was performing.

The management say they communicated with their contact and were assured that they would perform after another visiting artist who was next on the bill.

They said they were never called to perform although the band remained in place until 3 am when gig ended and the venue emptied.

Contacted for comment, Roar Entertainment said that they will be sharing a statement very soon.
