Zimbabwe’s Information and Communication Technologies Minister, Hon. Tatenda A. Mavetera, will lead a high-level Zimbabwean delegation to the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly 2024, scheduled to take place in New Delhi, India, from October 15 to 24, 2024.
Ahead of the assembly, Ambassador H.E. Bramha Kumar met with Hon. Mavetera to discuss ongoing bilateral cooperation between Zimbabwe and India in the ICT sector.
During the meeting, the minister emphasized the importance of strengthening existing ties, particularly in the area of capacity building and technological advancement in Zimbabwe’s ICT landscape.
The WTSA 2024, hosted by India, is one of the most significant global events in telecommunications and will be preceded by the Global Standards Symposium (GSS) on October 14, 2024.
The assembly, set to be inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, will gather high-level dignitaries from over 190 countries, making it a crucial platform for discussing telecommunications standardization and digital development worldwide.
The delegation also includes Deputy ICT Minister Hon. D. Phuti and Zimbabwe’s participation underscores its commitment to improving its telecommunications infrastructure and fostering international cooperation in ICT.
