A 29-year-old man from Waterfalls, Harare has been charged with attempted murder after a violent altercation with his neighbour over a late-night disturbance.
The accused, Learnmore Mutukwa, appeared at the Harare Magistrates' Courts, where he was remanded to appear again on November 6, 2024.
It is the State's case that around midnight at Ushewekunze, Waterfalls, Mutukwa had returned home intoxicated and found the gate locked. He jumped over the precast wall, he opened the gate to bring in his pushcart, making enough noise to wake up the complainant.
The complainant got out of the house only to find Mutukwa and he noticed that he was drunk.
The complainant cautioned Mutukwa about the time.
This did not go well with Mutukwa who went into his room and took a knife.
He started to sharpen it on the rock and boasting of being 'MuShurugwi'.
He then attacked the complainant and stabbed him once on the neck, once on the chin and once on the head.
The complainant called for help, neighbours gathered and managed to subdue Mutukwa.
They apprehended Mutukwa and escorted him to the police.
