Dynamos FC players have staged a protest, refusing to train in an effort to demand the payment of outstanding bonuses. The Glamour Boys have reportedly not been paid their bonuses since June, leading to growing discontent among the squad.
The strike throws their upcoming Chibuku Super Cup semi-final clash against Manica Diamonds into doubt. Each player is owed a significant sum, with some still awaiting their signing-on fees.
“We have been patient for too long,” said a Dynamos player, speaking on condition of anonymity. “This is the only way they will listen.”
The players expressed frustration with the club's management, accusing them of neglecting their concerns and failing to address the issue.
"They have never addressed us directly about the bonuses," the player continued. "They don't even show up at our training sessions anymore."
With the league title out of reach, the Chibuku Super Cup presents Dynamos with their only chance of silverware this season. However, the player rebellion threatens to derail their campaign.
"We are committed to defending our cup," said the player. "But they cannot take advantage of this situation."
Dynamos chairman, Moses Maunganidze, acknowledged the issue and assured the players that the club is working to resolve the matter.
"The boys downed their tools today because they need their bonuses," said Maunganidze. "We are making frantic efforts to manage the situation."
The strike has cast a shadow over Dynamos' preparations for their crucial match against Manica Diamonds
