A man who was allegedly entrusted with rolls of electrical cables worth US$3,837 to sell on behalf of the owner has been taken to court for allegedly using the proceeds for his personal benefit.
Edmore Mutumbani, of Mainway Meadows, Waterfalls, appeared at the Harare Magistrates' Court facing charges of theft of trust property.
The complainant in the case is Tapiwa Gurira.
According to the State, on October 13, 2021, at 107 Harare Street, Harare, Mutumbani was entrusted with 129 rolls of electrical cables valued at US$3,837 to sell on Gurira’s behalf and hand over the proceeds.
However, Mutumbani allegedly sold the cables and converted the money to his personal use.
He was granted bail of US$100 and is set to appear in court on December 17, 2024.
