A 30-year-old woman, Abigail Koronya, has been sentenced to six months in prison, wholly suspended on the condition that she completes 210 hours of community service, for assaulting her neighbor in a dispute over infidelity rumors.
Koronya appeared before the Nyanga Magistrates’ Court facing assault charges.
The altercation took place on November 18, 2024, in Takundikana Village, Nyanga, where Koronya accused her neighbor, Tinotenda Mandigora, of having an affair with her husband.
According to the court, Koronya confronted Mandigora, accusing her of infidelity. In a fit of rage, Koronya grabbed a wooden hoe handle and repeatedly struck Mandigora on her back and left arm, leaving her neighbor with a swollen arm.
The court found Koronya guilty and handed down the suspended sentence, conditional upon completing the community service.
