The African Development Bank is set to lend Morocco €650 million to enhance its transportation infrastructure in preparation for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, according to MAP state news agency.
AfDB President Akinwumi Adesina stated that the funding proposal for Morocco’s rail and airport projects would soon be presented to the bank's board for approval.
As a co-host alongside Spain and Portugal, Morocco will become the second African nation to host the World Cup, following South Africa in 2010.
The country has launched ambitious plans to bolster its air, road, and rail networks and aims to construct a state-of-the-art stadium in Benslimane, near Casablanca, while upgrading six existing stadiums, as per government announcements from last year.
This infrastructure push highlights Morocco's commitment to ensuring world-class facilities for the global football event.
