Ministry of Finance officials on Wednesday accompanied African Development Bank Executive Director Dr. Eugenio Paulo on a tour of AfDB-funded projects in Mashonaland West Province to assess progress and community impact.
The delegation met beneficiaries of the Emergency Food Production Facility Project, a key initiative designed to strengthen food reserves and help farmers withstand climate-related shocks.
By providing agricultural inputs, the project is boosting yields and supporting stable livelihoods — a development government says highlights the AfDB’s commitment to enhancing food security in Zimbabwe.
A major highlight of the tour was the inspection of the Alaska–Karoi Transmission Project, a flagship electricity infrastructure programme. The project has already connected more than 5,000 households, businesses, and public services — including schools and clinics — across Karoi, Makonde, and Hurungwe Districts.

Dr. Paulo said the visible progress demonstrates that development cooperation is delivering tangible results. “What we have witnessed here demonstrates the power of strategic partnership. These projects are making a measurable difference in communities, improving livelihoods and supporting Zimbabwe’s development efforts,” he said.
The Ministry of Finance said government remains committed to ensuring transparent and efficient implementation so communities fully benefit.
“We will continue to work closely with the AfDB and other partners to deliver projects that transform lives,” the Ministry said.
