On December 5th, the 21st China Medical Team, invited by the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe, participated in the “Lighting Up Homes” project at Herbert Chitepo Primary School in Zvimba, Mashonaland West Province. The team offered free medical services to families and students, complementing the project's aim to enhance the well-being of rural communities.
The “Lighting Up Homes” initiative, spearheaded by the Chinese Embassy, focuses on improving rural access to electricity. By lighting up students' desks and homes, the project seeks to inspire hope and foster better living conditions. The donation ceremony, attended by over 3,000 people, showcased the community's enthusiasm for the initiative.
Following the ceremony, the China Medical Team conducted a free clinic, offering professional healthcare services to over 500 villagers and students despite the scorching heat. Their dedication underscored the urgent need for accessible medical care in Zimbabwe, where healthcare remains scarce and costly.
Dr. Dandadzi, a local health department official, commended the team's efforts and expressed a desire to collaborate further. He invited the team to visit local clinics to provide ongoing medical services, medications, and technical support, hoping to establish a lasting partnership for the betterment of the community.
