Amicable Sibanda, a 19-year-old striker from FC Platinum’s Under-19 team, has taken the Zimbabwean football scene by storm after being named Player of the Year on December 5, 2024. The prestigious accolade was awarded during a vibrant ceremony held at Mandava Stadium, FC Platinum's home ground, where Sibanda’s remarkable journey and achievements were celebrated.

Sibanda’s story is one of perseverance and passion, guided by the mentorship of Brighton “Coach Brain” Pamhirwa. Now the head coach of Shabanie Mine FC, Coach Brain was instrumental in nurturing Sibanda’s raw talent and shaping him into a standout player.

Balancing academics and football was no easy feat for Sibanda, who completed his Upper Six studies in 2023 under an FC Platinum scholarship. Due to his demanding school schedule, his training was largely restricted to school holidays. Despite these challenges, he managed to excel both on and off the pitch. Now, with his studies behind him, 2024 has marked his first full year of focusing solely on football.

“It hasn’t been easy juggling academics and football, but I’m grateful for the support from FC Platinum and my family,” Sibanda said. “Now that I have more time to dedicate to football, I’m excited to see how far I can go.”

Sibanda’s impressive performances throughout the season earned him the coveted title, showcasing his determination, skill, and potential.

The awards ceremony at Mandava Stadium highlighted the ongoing success of FC Platinum’s youth development program, which continues to produce exceptional players. Sibanda’s rise is a testament to the club’s dedication to fostering young talent.

Looking ahead, Sibanda has set his sights on breaking into FC Platinum’s senior team, a goal he approaches with discipline and ambition. Under the guidance of seasoned coaches like Coach Brain and with his natural ability, the future is undeniably bright for this rising star.
