President Emmerson Mnangagwa has expressed disappointment and frustration with the state of government websites in Zimbabwe, particularly given the abundance of ICT skills among young people.

Speaking at the last Cabinet meeting for 2024, Mnangagwa blasted ICT Minister Tatenda Mavetera, emphasising the need for improved digital presence and communication strategies within government ministries.

"It is a misnomer that with the abundant ICTs skills and capacities among young people, our Government has only a few functional and up-to-date Ministry websites," President Mnangagwa said. "More should be done to improve this situation."

As Zimbabwe prepares to set its agenda for 2025 and drive its Vision 2030, President Mnangagwa stressed the need for structural transformation within government ministries, departments, and agencies. "The need for structural transformation of our Ministries, Departments and Agencies to propel our Vision 2030 is of paramount importance," he said.

He cited the success of the Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (ARDA) in driving Zimbabwe's Agriculture Food Systems and Transformation Strategy, and encouraged other ministries to identify strategic agencies that can increase impactful programs at both the grassroots and macro-economic levels.
