A 37-year-old man, Crispen Seven, has been arrested for allegedly unlocking a parked car and stealing valuables, including a laptop, at Madhadha Liquor Centre in Whitehouse, Harare.
Seven appeared before the Harare Magistrates' Courts, charged with theft, and was remanded in custody until December 24 for a bail application.
According to prosecutor Polite Chikiwa, the incident occurred on December 13 at around 5:40 PM. The complainant parked their Toyota Hilux, secured the vehicle by locking all doors and windows, and entered the liquor center.
Seven, along with two accomplices who are still at large, reportedly used an unidentified object to gain access to the car. The trio stole a laptop bag containing an HP Envy X360 laptop, its charger, a small cooler bag, and a lunchbox before fleeing the scene in a Toyota Fortuner.
The complainant realized the theft upon returning home and revisited the liquor center to review CCTV footage. The footage allegedly captured Seven committing the crime.
The stolen items, valued at US$855, have not been recovered. Investigations are ongoing.
