Edgars' Carousel manufacturing division has reported a remarkable 70% increase in units sold during the third quarter of the year, despite facing a challenging economic environment.

This surge in sales comes at a time when businesses in Zimbabwe are grappling with the impacts of fluctuating exchange rates, inflation, and a severe drought that has impacted both local industries and consumers.

According to the latest financial performance report, Carousel's units sold rose to 208,838, compared to 122,789 in the same period last year. This significant growth has been attributed to strategic efforts focused on improving the quality of products and optimizing production costs.

The company's efforts to source high-quality fabrics and invest in modern machinery have played a pivotal role in enhancing its product offerings. The division's ability to produce garments that meet international standards at competitive prices has contributed to this surge in demand, further solidifying its position in the local market.

Carousel's retooling exercise has also allowed the business to expand its product range, making it more strategically aligned with Edgars' retail chains. By improving stock management and profitability, Carousel has become a key player in supporting Edgars' broader retail operations, including the Edgars and Jet chains.

Sevious Mushosho, the Group CEO, expressed confidence in the division's growth prospects, despite the complex operating environment. He highlighted that the company’s focus on controlling production costs and continuously improving product quality is critical to maintaining competitiveness in the market.

"We remain committed to ensuring that we can provide high-quality garments to our customers while managing production costs effectively. The growth we have experienced in Carousel’s manufacturing unit is a testament to the hard work and strategic vision that we have implemented," said Mushosho.

The CEO also emphasized the company's broader strategy of strengthening its value chain, particularly through the development of Carousel, which has become a key contributor to Edgars’ overall success.
