Police have arrested two people in connection with 7kgs of cannabis stashed in the boot of a bus that had passed through the Beitbridge Border Post.
Police announced that CID Drugs and Narcotics Beitbridge arrested Fainurse Chitanga, 37, and Prosper Chitanga, 38 after a tip off.
“The dagga was stashed in three plastic buckets which were in the boot of a Makwenda bus,” the police said.
The bus which had crossed the Beitbridge border post on its way from South Africa was intercepted at the Masvingo turnoff in Beitbridge where police conducted a search and found the illegal drugs.
In a related incident police arrested Peter Zambara, 40, at Highglen Bus Terminus, Harare for possession of 300 X 100 mls of Broncleer Cough Syrup.
Zambara had just collected the illegal cough syrup the contraband from a Crestlink Motors crossborder bus.
