A 41-year-old man, Simbarashe Mufandaedza, has appeared in the Harare Magistrates' Courts facing charges of robbery after allegedly stabbing a woman seven times to steal her phone and cash.
The State, represented by prosecutor Rufaro Chonzi, stated that the incident occurred in the early hours of January 2, 2025, at Gail Court, located at the corner of 8th Street and Samora Machel Avenue in Harare.
It is alleged that Mufandaedza confronted the complainant, who was visiting a friend at the flat. He reportedly produced an okapi knife and stabbed her three times on the left hand and four times on the right leg before robbing her of a Samsung M33 phone and US$200 in cash.
The complainant suffered deep wounds and is currently admitted at Parirenyatwa Hospital, receiving treatment.
A police report was filed at ZRP Fife Avenue the same day, and detectives arrested Mufandaedza at Gail Court on January 3. He has since been remanded in custody pending further investigations.
