Zimbabwean football legend Moses Chunga has publicly endorsed Nqobile Magwizi for the presidency of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) in the forthcoming elections slated for January 25.
Chunga, a respected figure in Zimbabwean football, expressed his confidence in Magwizi's ability to take ZIFA to the next level.
"I've had the pleasure of knowing Nqobile for the past four years, and I can confidently say he's the ideal candidate for the job," Chunga said. "As a seasoned corporate executive, Nqobile brings invaluable experience to attract sponsorship and investment to Zimbabwean football, which will undoubtedly improve ZIFA's financial stability and benefit the sport's development."
Magwizi's campaign promises, which include reviving grassroots development and refurbishing football stadia, have resonated with Chunga. "His vision will create a strong foundation for our national teams, provide opportunities for young players, and enhance the overall quality of our football," Chunga explained. "This, in turn, will attract more international matches and boost our economy and tourism."
Chunga also praised Magwizi's commitment to player welfare, both on and off the pitch. "His plan to provide education and training programs will help players acquire new skills and secure their financial futures," he said.
Magwizi's experience in football administration, having worked with Banket United and secured sponsorship for Premier League clubs, has also impressed Chunga. "He has the expertise to attract more investment to Zimbabwean football, and his integrity, passion, and vision make him the perfect candidate for the job," Chunga asserted.
Magwizi faces stiff competition from other candidates, including Martin Kweza, Twine Phiri, Philemon Machana, and Makwinji Somaphiri. However, Chunga's endorsement is a significant boost to Magwizi's campaign.
"I urge all football stakeholders to join me in endorsing Nqobile Magwizi for ZIFA President," Chunga concluded. "Together, let's take Zimbabwean football to the next level."
