Prof. Edson Gandiwa has been appointed- with immediate effect- to the post of Director General of the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority, succeeding Dr. Fulton Mangwanya, who has joined the President's department.

Gandiwa, is a leading ecologist with over 20 years of experience in wildlife conservation and higher education. He holds a PhD in Wildlife Conservation from Wageningen University, The Netherlands.
He has served in roles such as Director of Scientific Services at ZimParks and as an Associate Professor at Chinhoyi University of Technology.
Renowned for his work in biodiversity conservation, community-based resource management, and ecotourism, Prof. Gandiwa has co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications and currently chairs the African Elephant Fund Steering Committee under UNEP.
