A 28-year-old man, Shylock Zulu, from Mashala Village, Hwange, was sentenced to six months in prison for stealing and slaughtering a goat, then selling its meat to the unsuspecting owner.
The incident occurred on January 8, 2025, when Zulu unlawfully took Thabani Sibanda's black-and-white male goat from a grazing area. He slaughtered the goat and sold the meat to Sibanda for US$15, claiming it was bush buck meat.
Sibanda later grew suspicious and discovered the meat was from his stolen goat.
Zulu’s sentence includes three months suspended on condition of good behavior for five years, while the remaining three months were suspended upon payment of ZWL $1,057 as restitution to Sibanda.
