A 40-year-old man, Vincent Tabvirakare, has been arraigned before the Harare Magistrates’ Court on charges of robbery and possession of dangerous explosives.

Prosecutor Rufaro Chonzi told Magistrate Isheunesu Matova that Tabvirakare, along with accomplices, carried out an armed robbery on November 26, 2024. The gang reportedly armed themselves with an iron bar, a catapult, and knives before traveling in a Toyota Wish (registration AFH 7704) to the residence of Tawanda Brian Dzvoti and Violet Dzvoti.

The accused and his accomplices allegedly forced their way into the property by breaking the gate, then proceeded to open the kitchen door and screen gate. Inside, they are said to have tied the hands of the complainants, assaulted them, and demanded money.

The stolen items reportedly included US$1,020, R3,700, three Samsung devices (an S23 Ultra, an S22, and a tablet), a Proline Notebook laptop, and four bottles of wine.

Tabvirakare was arrested and allegedly found in possession of explosives, including one EMEX 70 x 270 cartridge and two 14cm capped fuses.

He has been remanded in custody pending further investigation.
