Mushonga, a seasoned football administrator with a wealth of experience, is confident that his leadership will bring about a new era of prosperity and growth for Zimbabwean football. "I believe I know exactly what needs to be done from day one," he asserted. "We need a well-structured ZIFA, with affiliates working together in harmony, towards a common goal."
For Mushonga, unity and cooperation are key to unlocking Zimbabwean football's full potential. "We need to come together, work together, and have a unity of purpose," he emphasized. "It's time for us to push the agenda of ZIFA forward, as enshrined in the Constitution. We're not starting from scratch; we just need to focus on what's required to take ZIFA to the next level."
Mushonga acknowledged that Zimbabwean football has been lagging behind, citing the lack of junior football development, inadequate infrastructure, and poor maintenance as major concerns. "These are the things that need to be corrected," he said. "We need to bring in new life, new energy, and a new image to ZIFA."
As a seasoned administrator, Mushonga boasts an impressive track record. He proudly pointed to his work with Gunners, where he helped rebrand the team and attract new sponsors. "Football is all about image," he noted. "We need to focus on creating a positive, attractive image that will draw in sponsors and supporters."
Mushonga's vision for ZIFA is built on transparency, accountability, and cooperation. "We need to bring in new people, new ideas, and a new way of doing things," he said. "We owe it to ourselves, our children, and our country to create a better future for Zimbabwean football."
As the ZIFA elections approach, Mushonga urged delegates to choose leaders who embody the values of transparency, accountability, and responsibility. "We need people who will work together, who will put the interests of ZIFA and Zimbabwean football first," he said.
With his wealth of experience, passion for the game, and commitment to transparency and accountability, Sweeney Mushonga is undoubtedly a strong contender for the ZIFA board. As he aptly put it, "Our football will be in good hands, and we'll have an opportunity to see a brighter tomorrow for our football."
